Courses

Key Stage 3 English

Students follow a curriculum that allows them to develop and showcase the full range of English skills, through exploring: Prose, Drama, Shakespeare, Poetry, Media and Non- Fiction texts. Students are set according to ability, and progress is tracked through regular end of unit assessments to ensure that they achieve targets set.

Year 7

  • Term 1- Holes/ Song Lyrics
  • Term 2- Macbeth/ Animal Farm
  • Term 3- Narrative Writing/ GCSE Exam practise

Year 8

  • Term 1- Boy in the Striped Pyjamas/ War Poetry
  • Term 2 – Twelfth Night/ Gothic Horror
  • Term 3- Media Through Time/ GCSE Exam practise

Key Stage 4

GCSE English Language and English Literature(AQA)

In lieu of new Government policy, students will cover all aspects of English Language and Literature. They will need to showcase the full range of skills through exploring: Prose, Drama, Shakespeare, Poetry, Media and Non- Fiction texts. Students will sit 2 English Language Papers at the end of Year 10 and 2 English Literature Papers at the end of Year 11. (Please see curriculum maps to see how this is catered for.)
