Perry Beeches The Academy hosted its annual Black History Panel who met with year 10 students to share a wealth of experience and talk to students about opportunities available to them.  A range of different activities were taking place and so many people were involved to ensure the students were inspired to do their very best in school and make the right choices. There were so many poignant messages.

The year 8 English students heard from Enid about the book that she lost in the hurricane and now 65 years later she was reunited with it. There was no sound in the room when she shared this very memorable occasion.  Year 9 business students listened attentively to Shazia and Priscilla about all of the services that the City provides to support children young people and their families within Public Health. They also discovered that the sugar content in haribo’s wasn’t as healthy as they thought!

The panel was very insightful to the students and they heard some very true and heartfelt messages.

Donald – ‘Travelling is the University of Life’

Hughie – ‘No one has your finger prints in the world; no one has your eyes of the world’

Sharon – ‘You are never too old to turn your life around’

Heather – ‘You will spend your life learning…..’

Luke – A quote from Tony Gaskin  ‘If you don’t build your dreams, someone will hire you to help build theirs’

The visitors stayed for lunch and continued to share experiences and words of advice with them.
