Year 10 and 11 students from Perry Beeches The Academy were able to attend and participate in a special Crafts Council and Inspiring the Future event at Think Tank, Birmingham’s award winning Science Museum.

The students had the opportunity to visit the Science Museum prior to the event and have a go at all of the interactive displays. They then attended a round table event when they spoke with a range of volunteers who are involved in creative and innovative projects and careers. Craft currently contributes £3.4 billion to the economy and 150,000 people across the UK deploy craft skills within a number of industries. A year 11 student said ‘it was interesting to hear how the people had got to their chosen careers, they did not all take a traditional educational route. Some had travelled and some had chosen to do one career and completely changed direction when they had an idea – anything is possible if you are determined’.
