Perry Beeches were recently paid a visit my BBC WM radio station to discuss on going dementia awareness work in year 9. The current year 9s have all attended an information session, run myself, which gave them a better understanding of dementia and how it affects people. BBC WM interviewed 3 pupils from year 9 (James Smith, Carys Wood-Jones and Lauren Martin) and the pupils spoke superbly about the advantages of the session and the importance of better understanding dementia. As the population in the UK continues to age, many of us will know someone who lives with dementia and therefore knowing a little about more about the disease will help us support our friends and family. Perry Beeches continue to build relationships with Homelands and pupils who visit the home, where some of the residents have dementia, can now be more prepared to talk to and work with the elderly residents. It is my hope to run the dementia information session to all year groups at Perry Beeches so all of our pupils can understand more about dementia. If you would like to find out more, or you’re interested in attending a session yourself, please contact me on email@example.com or visit the Dementia Friends website www.dementiafriends.org.uk.
