Magistrates’ Court Mock Trial
A group of budding year 8 students are taking to the bench on Saturday 21st March to enter into the Magistrates’ Court Mock Trial. Students visited the Magistrates Court last week and met with Hazel Lyons JP who gave the students the opportunity to observe live court cases to prepare them for the competition. The project enables the students to understand how the law, politics and public life affect them. It is designed to help students understand what it means to belong to communities, to understand the language of morality, of rights and of responsibilities towards others.
The project is arranged in partnership with The Citizenship Foundation, the Magistrates’ Association and sponsored by Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunal Service and the Jomanti Foundation.
