‘Most Proactive Coordinator’
Sarah Dorsett, our Community and Partnership Manager has been presented with an Smart Network, Smarter Choices award for ‘Most Proactive Coordinator’ for our Travel Plan activities. As well as receiving the award for all her hard work, the school has enjoyed huge benefits from this project which began in 2012. During that time we have made a bid for the funding for the bikes used in PE as well as the cycle stands students use daily. We also had the Big Bike Challenge which was a cycle pump day outside, frame academy, support for a range of activities to undertake the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh as well as having all the funding for the equipment for the D of E too including tents/panniers etc. There were a number of schools across the West Midlands involved in this event and the award was presented to Sarah by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham.
We are also proud to announce our school is the first school in Birmingham to be awarded a Bronze award for Modeshift Stars, Modeshift STARS is the national schools awards scheme that has been established to recognise schools that have demonstrated excellence in supporting cycling, walking and other forms of sustainable travel. This award celebrates our achievement in getting our staff and students to travel more sustainably and to encourage smarter travel choices. A big thank you for all the staff and students that took part in the travel plan survey.
