On Wednesday 17th July, Perry Beeches The Academy held its annual Sports Day.  The theme this year was ‘Best of British’.  Students competed to earn points in order to have their sportsperson crowned ‘Sportsperson of the Year’.  Every single student in Years 7, 8 and 9 took part and earned points for their team in events like athletics, basketball, golf, cricket and swimming.  There were also lots of other activities taking place in subjects like English, Humanities, Maths, IT and Science, which were just as competitive and focused on scoring points.  A special mention has to go to Team Murray led by Mr McGovern (and his friend!) who won the ’Best Supported Team’ on the day.  After a hard fought day of activity, competition and fun, there was only 6 points which separated our winning team. Team Adams were just pipped to the post by Team Simmonds who won with an impressive 970 points.  It just goes to show that every point counts and every students’ contribution was important.  Well done to all the country leaders, PE staff, teachers and of course students who got fully involved to make the day a great success.
