Year 7 Birmingham School Games Athletics competition

On Thursday 25th June the girls embarked on a trip to Alexander Stadium to represent the Kingsbury Partnership at the Birmingham School Games Athletics competition. The girls took part in various events including the 100m, 200m, 800m, long jump, shot putt, javelin and the 4 x 100 metre relay. There were some outstanding winning performances from Abbie Hyland in the 200m and Elisha Simpson in the long jump. However, it was a joint effort from all team members which saw the girls finish in fourth position out of a possible 12. The girls also got to meet top Great British sprinter Harry Aikines-Aryeetey and they took full advantage by getting his autograph on their t-shirts and several selfies. On the whole it was a great event in which the team demonstrated excellent athletic ability and outstanding behaviour and attitude. Well done girls!!
