Year 7 Football Team win U12 Aston Cup

On Friday 19th April, our Year 7 Football Team contested the Aston Cup Final against Aston Manor at Aston Villa’s Bodymoor Heath Training Ground.  The opening exchanges were even until midway through the first half, when Beeches were awarded a penalty that Captain Nathan Ferguson struck into the net.  Having taken the lead, the team played with confidence and created several chances to increase the lead, but were unable to beat an on-form Aston Manor Goalkeeper.  Aston Manor then created their best chance to equalise, but were denied when Ryan Uppal headed a goal-bound shot off the goal line and over the crossbar.  This then kick started Beeches, and the pressure finally paid off, when two goals in the final 5 minutes, from Rumarn Burrell, saw off an Aston Manor School Team that included three District players.  In the end, Perry Beeches were worthy winners and were presented with the Aston Cup for the first time since the competition began in 1966. Congratulations to you all.
