School direct training PGCE route

School Direct is an innovative new training route which allows you to train directly with Perry Beeches The Academy Trust and our cluster of partner schools. All of our partner schools have been quality assured to ensure that training is of the highest possible standard to prepare you for the teaching profession. Perry Beeches The Academy works in partnership with Birmingham City University and Newman University to accredit the programme at PGCE level.


How long does it take?

It takes one year, starting in September

How much will it cost?

There will be an additional cost to the trainee for tuition fees; these vary depending on the HEI

Is there any additional funding available?

Funding is dependent on degree classification and subject (information available on TA website) However, you can apply for a bursary in the following subjects:

You will complete the School Direct Programme with Perry Beeches The Academy or one of our partner schools

What qualifications do I need?

You must have a UK Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification, and must have achieved a standard equivalent to a GCSE grade C in mathematics and English (Primary applicants will also need a C or above in Science). In addition, you will need to have passed your Literacy and Numeracy Professional Skills tests.
