A Princes Trust Community Cash Award totalling £2030 has been awarded to a team of students to help them set up and run a community project at Perry Barr BMX track. In May 2012 the UCI World BMX Championships were held at the BMX track and riders from all around the globe came to the facility, including all the Olympic teams, they all agreed, it’s one of the best BMX facilities they’ve ever been to. Perry Beeches The Academy students identified a need for recycling facilities to be installed as all rubbish was going into the normal waste. In partnership with the Local Authority, Local Councillors and the staff at the BMX track this has become a reality. Lluis Mather- Project Officer from the Prince’s Trust said this is a very innovative project lead by the pupils at Perry Beeches The Academy and we welcome the improvement that will be made to this very prestigious site.
